AlphaMundi Foundation Welcomes Claire Mugo as Program Manager
AlphaMundi Foundation (AMF) is pleased to welcome Claire Mugo as its new Program Manager, based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Claire is an experienced Blended Finance Professional, who has successfully overseen a number of regional and Donor-funded programs. In her role as Program Manager, she will manage a portfolio of USD 4.5 million in gender-smart Technical Assistance Projects, concessional loans, impact-linked finance, as well as returnable and non-returnable grants to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) operating in Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Claire expressed her enthusiasm in commencing her new role. “I am thrilled to join the AlphaMundi Foundation and collaborate with talented, like-minded professionals and communities to design, implement, and scale inclusive climate solutions across Africa and Latin America. The climate crisis, although alarming, presents a chance to develop innovative solutions that prevent, prepare for, and adjust to its impact. Particularly since women are often the most vulnerable to its adverse impacts. Leveraging blended finance allows us to do so at scale. I am excited to work with SMEs to support them in overcoming challenges they may be facing and create sustainable, inclusive solutions that generate positive impact in communities and ecosystems.”
Prior to joining AMF, Claire was the Gender Lead and a senior member of the Africa Team at Convergence Blended Finance. There, she developed a firm-wide strategy to engage African institutional investors in blended finance transactions, screened grant proposals for innovative gender and climate smart blended finance vehicles, managed relationships with Convergence network members, and authored thought pieces on how institutional investors can leverage blended finance to create better performing investment portfolios that support the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
Before joining Convergence, Claire was the Assistant Program Manager and Marketing Coordinator at Africa Risk Institute, where she developed a financial literacy and entrepreneurship program for youth, while managing key stakeholder relationships. Claire holds a Bachelor of Business Science degree in Actuarial Science from Strathmore University and has passed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level I and II exams.
"We are thrilled to welcome Claire to our team and to leverage her blended finance expertise as we scale our operations and impact," said Ladé Araba, AMF’s Executive Director. “She will play a pivotal role in helping us achieve our organizational objectives while delivering exceptional value to our partners and portfolio companies.”
