Claire Mugo
Claire is AlphaMundi Foundation’s Program Manager, overseeing a portfolio of USD 4.5 million in gender-smart Technical Assistance Projects, concessional loans, impact-linked finance, as well as returnable and non-returnable grants to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) operating in Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
She was previously the Gender Lead and a senior member of the Africa Team at Convergence Blended Finance. There, she developed a firm-wide strategy to engage African institutional investors in blended finance transactions, screened grant proposals for innovative gender and climate smart blended finance vehicles, managed relationships with Convergence network members, and authored thought pieces on how institutional investors can leverage blended finance to create better performing investment portfolios that support the sustainable development goals (SDGs). Prior to joining Convergence, Claire was the Assistant Program Manager and Marketing Coordinator at Africa Risk Institute, where she developed a financial literacy and entrepreneurship program for youth, while managing key stakeholder relationships. Claire holds a Bachelor of Business Science degree in Actuarial Science from Strathmore University and has passed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level I and II exams.
